Yantra Yoga - the Tibetan yoga of movement - is one of the oldest recorded systems of yoga in the world. This ancient practice trains us to breathe and move in harmony with the natural rhythm of the human heartbeat.

Principles is a three hour introductory workshop for those interested in the Tibetan Yoga of Movement and the associated styles of breathing. In this workshop we will explore:

  1. the habitual ways we breathe that are obstructive and unconscious, how they impact the mind and emotions, and how to correct them.
  2. the fundamental style of vase breathing that is core to Yantra, which supports harmonious and complete inhalation from below and exhalation from above.
  3. the seven points of the cross legged seated posture that supports yogic and meditation practices of all kinds.
  4. the opening pranayama Exhaling the Stale Air, which helps clear the energy system before any practice.
  5. the difference between core styles of direct and indirect breathing, and why we utilize one over the other.
  6. we will also teach the first movement of both the Loosening the Joints series, and the Purifying the Prana series as a sampling of the movements we will be learning in the full three month program that follows (details below).

Participants will leave with an understanding of the principles of Yantra Yoga and a short exercise for exhaling the stale air that can be useful before engaging in any practice and in daily life.
